Overview
Your Willage is a community platform created for parents seeking trusted childcare and local peer support. I independently designed and developed the entire platform, from branding and user experience to the final WordPress implementation.
The project focused on creating a welcoming, intuitive, and secure members-only experience where users can build profiles, discover other families based on location, exchange private messages, and manage their own account information.

The Challenge
The client wanted a community platform that felt approachable and trustworthy while remaining simple to use for parents with varying levels of digital experience.
The challenge was to combine community features (including member profiles, location-based search, private messaging, and membership management) into a cohesive experience without overwhelming users. At the same time, the platform needed to be flexible enough to support future growth and additional features.

Design Process
The project began with defining the brand identity and user experience. I mapped the primary user journeys, identified the essential platform features, and designed the overall information architecture before moving into the interface design.
Once the UX foundations were established, I translated the designs into a fully functional WordPress website. Throughout the implementation, I continuously refined the interface to ensure a consistent experience across all pages and member interactions.

Development
After completing the UX/UI design, I built the platform from the ground up in WordPress. Ultimate Member provided the core membership functionality, while custom CSS was used to extensively tailor the interface to match the client's brand requirements.
The implementation included user authentication, member profiles, location-based member search, private messaging, content restrictions, user role configuration, and Stripe payment integration. I also added custom JavaScript to improve interactions and extend the platform beyond the default plugin functionality.
The result is a fully customised membership platform that combines user-centred design with some front-end development.
