Art
The archipelago has always been a familiar part of my life, as I grew up in Kustavi, in the Archipelago of Southwest Finland. Its landscapes and natural environments have increasingly found their way into my art: there is always something new to observe in the changing light, seasons, vegetation, and coastal landscapes.
I am also interested in different ecological environments and the condition of the Baltic Sea. These themes have become an important part of what I explore through painting. Rather than approaching them only as environmental questions, I am interested in observing and interpreting the places themselves, and in how changes in the environment can be seen in the landscape.
I mainly work with oil paints and do nature-inspired works, often based on places and observations from the archipelago. In addition to painting, I am interested in various forms of craft and enjoy working with natural materials. I have explored ceramics, bone and leatherwork, as well as different forms of weaving and braiding.
